Windshield Repair FAQs

Q: What kinds of auto glass can be repaired?
A: Superior Auto Appearance provides windshield chip repair for any type of vehicle: automobiles, trucks, sports-utilities, and recreational vehicles. There are four different types of windshield rock chips that can occur; The Bulls-Eye, Combination Break, Half-Moon or Partial Bulls-Eye, and the Star Break. If the damage can be completely covered by a U.S. Quarter, Superior Auto Appearance can fix it with our fast and friendly windshield repair service.

Q: How are the repairs conducted?
A.
Air is extracted from the opened area in the glass while resin is placed into the vacuum/damaged area. The resin seals the area preventing further damage, while extraction of air reduces prior evidence of damage. We utilize a special UV light to cure the resin, providing a long lasting repair.

Q: I have a chip in my windshield, is it really important that I fix it right away?
A: Yes! It's important for two reasons. Firstly, the chip should be filled in order to prevent any further cracking. The second reason to have a damaged windshield fixed is for your own safety. The windshield is more than just a "shield" from wind and road dirt, it's an important structural element of your car. It helps keep you and your passengers in the car in a front impact accident, and keeps your car's airbag in the optimum position so it can function as designed. If your windshield is weakened due to damage, it could be dangerous to you and your passengers in the event of an accident. Also, damaged glass may cause optical impediments when driving, particularly at night, which is a significant safety hazard.
